JDO is thrilled to announce the winner of our highly anticipated annual competition, JDO RAW, celebrating exceptional skills and creativity among emerging designers.

Since 2003, RAW has grown into a renowned platform, attracting entries from esteemed creative universities across the UK and US.

For the 2023 competition, students were challenged to create a captivating water brand that resonated with the audience by harnessing tribal mentality. The aim was to stand out in the saturated market.

The RAW ceremony took place on May 25 at JDO's London studio, bringing together creative professionals, mentors, and aspiring designers to celebrate the participants' achievements.

Chiara Causer from Arts University Bournemouth emerged as the winner of JDO RAW 2023 with her project, H2OOOH. These dissolvable hydration balls made from water, sodium alginate, and calcium lactate offer a sustainable twist on everyday water brands.

H2OOOH breaks boundaries with its bold and unique design, challenging stereotypes about eco enthusiasts and embracing a light-hearted approach to sustainability.

In addition, the judging panel recognised two exceptional runners-up from Norwich University of the Arts. Lois Brandon's project, Verde, infuses a spirited water brand with energising spirulina, captivating the sports social tribe through a fusion of native Mexican patterns and sports equipment. Jack Shorter's project, Pour, presents a thoughtful, understated design for a flavoured rainwater brand focused on conservation.

JDO extends congratulations to Chiara Causer, Lois Brandon, Jack Shorter, and all the participants of JDO RAW 2023. This competition reaffirms our belief in the limitless potential of the next generation of designers.
